Hi folks!
As we prepare our hearts and homes for Advent and Christmas, there is ample opportunity to use our hands to create lovely decor fitting for the season. Maybe, you like me have been feeling inspired by the evergreen forests that keep their deep green tones all throughout the winter. Evergreen inspiration surrounds our lovely homestead, so one sunny day in November, I set out with my boots on and clippers in hand.
Before too long I had collected a basket full of evergreen clippings! After a trip to the mailbox, a chance to empty my compost bucket, and an interruption by Amazon prime, I was FINALLY ready to start assembly. My foraged evergreens were ready for winter-time decor! But wait. At the time of my assembly attempt, I noticed the fading sun to the west! With that, I halted my efforts. This endeavour would have to be continued at a later date.
Continued, two days later that is. But pay no mind, the result was quite the same and the excitement of creating winer-time decor returned. For all of you who wish to do this at home, the materials needed are quite simple. Materials needed: large metal crafting ring, floral wire, and evergreen cuttings.
From here the wreath making is quite self explanatory and can be personalized for your taste. Using your floral wire, attach cuttings to your ring. You may have to wire the branch multiple times to achieve the style of wreath you wish. This wreath would be going in my house, and I wanted something more wispy and less full. I layered on, twisted, and wired my cuttings on until I was satisfied. I then added a few dried orange and apple slices to the bottom, and there sat my new foraged wreath!
It was a wreath ready to be hung in winter-time celebration! I surely do hope that during this season you find yourself a few minutes to gather some evergreen goodness and create to your heart’s content!
In joy,
Hannah
